“I slept with our new neighbor yesterday,” I tell my neighbor Sara in my most matter-of-fact tone.

“Get out,” she almost shouts at me. “What the hell, Lexi?”

I just shrug - if she’s not going to ask, I’m not going to offer any details. She waits for me to say something before she throws her hands in the air and almost screams.

“Come on, girlfriend. Spill some tea, here.” She’s staring at me with a look of amazement and a half-smile. It’s kind of adorable, really.

I went to her house next door to mine on the other side from Darnell’s first thing for coffee. I don’t usually visit so early but the look on my face must have clued her in that I had some news. I smile and shrug my shoulders as she stares at me, her eyes and mouth wide open.

“Ted and I had him over for brunch, and then Ted suggested I take a look at his house to offer some decorating tips. One thing led to another…” I smile and shrug again. She looks as if she wants to hit me.

“You fucked him while Ted was right next door? That is really cold, Lexi.” She looks as if she’s in pain.

“Ted knew what I was going to do when he suggested I go home with him.”

“Oh, my god, Lexi. This just keeps getting weirder and weirder.” She finally regains her composure enough to pour herself another cup of coffee. “Is this normal for you two?”

I sigh. Where do I begin?

“It is now,” I start, then I explain about Gene and how Ted and I have been dancing around the subject of me cuckolding him the way I used to cuck my first husband.

“What are the odds?” she asks and I tilt my head as I stare at her.

“What do you mean?”

“Did you marry Ted because he had the same twisted ideas about marriage as your first husband? I mean, that kind of attitude is pretty out there, for most people. Or am I hopelessly naive?”

“Well, I’m not saying I speak for anyone but myself, Sara. But have you ever watched porn? “I have no idea,” I admit. “All I know is that it’s more common than you think. Have you two ever talked about it?”

“No, not once.” She looks down, clearly turning a possible conversation over in her mind. “Are you really saying that I should?”

“No, I’m not. All I’m saying is that there’s a good chance he’s already thinking about it, especially since Darnell moved in.
